Community Guidelines
Effective: May 15, 2026
Aura is built for people who want real connections. These guidelines exist to keep our community safe, respectful, and authentic. Every member is expected to follow them — no exceptions. Violations may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the platform. By using Aura, you agree to abide by these guidelines in addition to our Terms of Service.
1. Be Authentic
Aura is a space for genuine people seeking genuine connections. Authenticity is the foundation of our community.
- • Real identity: use your real first name and create a profile that accurately represents who you are. Do not impersonate another person, public figure, or fictional character.
- • Recent photos: all profile photos must be of you, taken within the last two years, and clearly show your face. Heavily filtered, AI-generated, or digitally manipulated photos that misrepresent your appearance are not allowed.
- • Honest bio: your profile prompt answers should be truthful. Do not misrepresent your age, location, relationship status, or intentions.
- • No catfishing: using someone else's photos, creating fictional personas, or deceiving others about who you are is grounds for immediate and permanent removal.
- • One account per person: you may only have one active Aura account at any time.
2. Respect Boundaries
Treat everyone with the respect they deserve. Every person on Aura has the right to feel safe and comfortable.
- • Consent matters: if someone is not interested or stops responding, respect their decision. Persistent messaging after someone has declined or gone silent is harassment.
- • No pressure: do not pressure anyone to share personal information (phone number, address, social media handles), meet in person, or engage in any activity they are not comfortable with.
- • Accept "no": rejection is a normal part of dating. Respond to it gracefully. Retaliating against someone who is not interested — through insults, threats, or reporting their profile in bad faith — is a violation.
- • Blocking is a right: anyone can block anyone at any time for any reason. Do not attempt to contact a person who has blocked you through alternate accounts or outside the platform.
3. No Harassment, Hate Speech, or Discrimination
Aura has zero tolerance for any form of harassment, hate speech, or discrimination. The following are strictly prohibited:
- • Threats of violence, physical harm, or intimidation of any kind
- • Hate speech or promotion of violence based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, body type, or any other protected characteristic
- • Body-shaming, appearance-based insults, or degrading comments about someone's physical appearance
- • Unwanted sexual messages, sexual harassment, or sexually explicit propositions
- • Stalking, doxxing (revealing someone's personal information), or coordinated harassment
- • Bullying, name-calling, or deliberate emotional manipulation
- • Sending disturbing, violent, or graphic content intended to shock or distress
4. No Spam or Commercial Solicitation
Aura is for genuine human connection, not commercial gain. The following are prohibited:
- • Promoting businesses, products, services, or personal brands
- • Soliciting money, donations, or financial support
- • Driving traffic to external websites, social media accounts, or subscription services
- • Sending repetitive, copy-pasted, or automated messages
- • Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to interact with other users
- • Recruiting for events, organizations, political campaigns, or religious groups
- • Conducting surveys, research, or data collection without Aura's written authorization
5. Adults Only — 18+ Strictly Enforced
Aura is exclusively for adults aged 18 and older. This is not negotiable.
- • Age verification is enforced during account creation. You must provide your date of birth, and it must indicate you are at least 18 years old.
- • If you encounter someone you believe to be under 18, report them immediately using the in-app report feature. We act swiftly on these reports.
- • Any content, conduct, or communication involving, depicting, or targeting minors is grounds for immediate permanent removal and reporting to law enforcement.
- • Lying about your age to create an account is a violation that results in immediate termination.
6. Photo Guidelines
Your photos are the first impression you make. They should accurately represent you and be appropriate for all users.
Required
- • Your primary (first) photo must be a clear, recent photo of your face — solo, not a group photo
- • All photos must be of you and taken within the last two years
- • Photos must be appropriate for a public, all-audiences context
Not Allowed
- • Nudity, sexually explicit, or sexually suggestive content
- • Photos of other people as your primary photo (group photos are acceptable as secondary photos, but your primary must be solo)
- • Photos of children, whether yours or someone else's (for their safety and privacy)
- • Graphic, violent, gory, or disturbing imagery
- • Photos containing text overlays promoting products, services, or social media handles
- • Copyrighted photos that are not yours (stock photos, celebrity images, memes)
- • AI-generated or heavily manipulated images that misrepresent your appearance
- • Photos depicting illegal activity, drug use, or weapons
7. Protect Privacy
Everyone on Aura deserves to have their privacy respected. The following are prohibited:
- • Sharing screenshots of conversations without the other person's explicit consent
- • Sharing another user's photos, profile information, phone number, address, or other personal details without their consent
- • Recording video or audio of in-app interactions without consent
- • Using information learned through Aura to harass, stalk, or contact someone outside the platform after they have asked you to stop
- • Posting another user's profile or conversations on social media, forums, or other public platforms
8. AI Insights Etiquette
Aura offers AI-powered conversation insights to help you understand your communication patterns. To ensure these features are used respectfully:
- • When AI Insights are enabled, both people in a conversation see a visible indicator. This transparency is by design — you cannot secretly analyze someone.
- • AI insights are tools for self-reflection, not weapons. Do not use scores, flags, or coaching tips to manipulate, gaslight, or pressure another person.
- • Do not share another user's AI-generated scores or insights with them in a confrontational or hurtful way (e.g., "your Chemistry Score is low").
- • AI analysis is limited to observable patterns and may not be accurate. Do not treat AI insights as objective truth about another person's character or intentions.
- • If your match is uncomfortable with AI analysis, consider disabling it. Respect is more important than data.
9. Aura Etiquette
Aura uses Bluetooth and Ultra-Wideband technology to detect nearby Aura users. This feature is powerful and requires responsible use:
- • Respect Ghost Mode: if a user has enabled Ghost Mode, they have chosen not to be detected. Do not attempt to identify or approach someone who is in Ghost Mode. Their decision to be invisible is final.
- • No stalking or following: discovering that someone is nearby through Aura is not an invitation to follow them, approach them without context, or track their movements. If you want to connect, send a message through the app first.
- • Public spaces only: Aura is designed for organic discovery in public spaces — coffee shops, events, parks. Do not use it to locate people in private settings or to determine where someone lives, works, or frequents.
- • Consent is ongoing: even if Aura reveals that someone is nearby, they may not want to interact in person at that moment. A proximity notification is not consent to approach.
- • No abuse of proximity data: do not use Aura proximity information to build patterns of someone's location habits, share their location with others, or use proximity data for any purpose other than the intended casual discovery feature.
10. Reporting and Blocking
If someone makes you feel unsafe or violates these guidelines, you have tools to protect yourself:
- • Report: tap the report button on any profile or within any conversation. Select the reason for your report and provide any additional context. All reports are reviewed, and appropriate action is taken. You can report anonymously — the reported user will not know who reported them.
- • Block: blocking is immediate. A blocked user cannot see your profile, send you messages, or detect you via Aura. You can unblock someone at any time from your settings.
- • False reports: submitting false or malicious reports — including reporting someone in retaliation for rejecting you — is itself a violation and may result in action against your account.
11. Consequences
We enforce these guidelines through a tiered system based on the severity and pattern of violations:
- • Warning: for first-time minor violations (e.g., inappropriate photo, mildly spammy messages), you may receive a warning with an explanation of the violated guideline. The offending content may be removed.
- • Temporary suspension: for repeated minor violations or moderate violations (e.g., persistent unwanted messages, misleading profile after a warning), your account may be temporarily suspended for a period determined by the severity.
- • Permanent ban: for severe violations (threats of violence, hate speech, illegal activity, underage usage, stalking, Aura abuse, repeated violations after warnings), your account will be permanently removed. You will be prohibited from creating new accounts.
- • Law enforcement referral: for illegal activity, threats of violence, exploitation of minors, or other criminal conduct, we will cooperate with law enforcement authorities.
All enforcement actions are at Aura's sole discretion. We are not obligated to provide advance notice before taking action, particularly in cases involving user safety.
12. Stay Safe Offline
When meeting someone from Aura in person for the first time:
- • Meet in public: choose a busy, well-lit public place for your first several meetings
- • Tell someone: share your plans with a friend or family member — where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to be back
- • Stay sober: keep your wits about you, especially on first meetings
- • Arrange your own transportation: do not depend on your date for a ride home
- • Trust your instincts: if something feels off, leave. Your safety is more important than politeness.
- • Report concerning behavior: if your date behaves in a way that makes you feel unsafe — during the date or after — report them through the app. This helps protect others too.
Aura facilitates introductions but cannot guarantee the identity, conduct, or intentions of any user. You are responsible for your own safety when interacting with others, both online and offline.
13. Changes to These Guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines to reflect new features (such as Aura), emerging safety concerns, or community feedback. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Aura after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines.
If you see something that violates these guidelines, report it using the in-app Report feature or contact us at charlesdotdirect@gmail.com. We review every report and take them seriously.
